Matt Rothwell was born in Birmingham in 1966. Just a few months too late to witness Jimmy Greaves’ controversial exclusion from England’s World Cup Final winning team. Prior to graduating as a mature student from the University of Huddersfield in 1996, he has worked as; a trainee erection engineer (if there is a better job title than that, I've yet to come across it), a time-share tout on the Algarve, lorry driver, and, semi-professional rock musician, emphasis on the semi. Get Rocked!

Post university he became a suit and tie wearing, butt kissing, corporate whore. Suffering from a perpetual case of vertigo, (bought on by brown nosing ones way up the corporate ladder), prompted him to look for an alternative career. He moved on to the Police, only to realise, very, very quickly, that it was just the same shit, a different way.

In early 2006 on a sunny spring morning he set out, with his wife, in search of a new life in Spain. Thirty days later it went horribly wrong. The horribly wrong experience led to the writing of his first book “Drunk In Charge of a Foreign Language – The Diary of a Spanish Misadventure”. Get Drunk! Before the whole misadventure he used to live in Kent. Wherever he lives now, it is probably a long, long way from Andalucía where he would really like to live.

He was working on his second book, and is currently thinking about re-starting work on it. It had a working title, then it didn't, Matt is still undecided.
